​​​​​​​​​​With over 25 years of experience, Dr. M. Catarina Jang has enjoyed serving her patients in California since 2010. On scholarship, Dr. Jang completed her doctorate in optometry from SUNY College of Optometry where she concurrently specialized in a dual degree program earning a Master in Vision Science.

Dr. Jang's interest led her to pursue a Fellowship specializing in Cornea, Contact Lens, and Refractive Surgery. She trained with top surgeons at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, Laser & Corneal Surgery Associates, and The Laser Center in New York City delivering care to the first wave of LASIK patients in the late 90s. As an Assistant Clinical Professor at the SUNY College of Optometry, she also supervised contact lens residents, and students of optometry and gave lectures to peers/students alike. Her past research includes studies as a lead investigator with Wesley Jesson, currently known as Alcon. Later, she became the clinical director of the American Laser Center in Garden City, NY where she trained other optometrists in the art of Pre/Post-Op management of surgery patients and carefully worked with each patient enhancing thousands of lives through permanent vision correction.

In NYC, Dr. Jang founded 2 private practices delivering premium eye care. In California, Dr. Jang was designated a subject matter expert to the Board of Optometry. Here at Elements Optometry, Dr. Jang takes pride in staying at the forefront of technology and the latest therapies including her current passion in the ever-evolving field of Dry Eye Disease and related therapies: Scleral lens, Amniotic Membrane, Punctal plugs, Radio-frequency treatment and more. Contact lens, eyeglass, and medical care of all patients remains a top priority in our practice.

​​​​​Dr. Joanna Vuong was born and raised in southern California and earned her bachelor's degree in Physiology from UCLA. During her tenure as an undergraduate, she worked with some prestigious ophthalmologists while her volunteer work at Venice Family Clinic Eye Center jumpstarted her passion for Optometry. Dr. Vuong earned her doctorate from the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO) in Chicago where she proudly served as VP of the Tomb & Key honor society became a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa honor society, and graduated Summa Cum Laude. A highlight of past years at ICO was providing much-needed optometry services to underserved countries in Central America, Honduras & Guatemala. She found much reward in these medical missions.

Today, Dr. Vuong is happy to be back practicing in California, close to her family. With years of experience at several optometry clinics, Dr. Vuong’s expertise and specialty in fitting scleral lenses, helping patients with dry eye disease, via punctal plugs, amniotic membrane treatment or radiofrequency therapy, and other therapies remain a passion. Dr. Vuong will carefully listen to your concerns and address each patient’s unique needs during your comprehensive eye examination.

In her free time, Dr. Vuong enjoys exploring the outdoors, travel & checking out new restaurants with her family in the South Bay.

​​​​​Matt has always been a SoCal resident having graduated from Mira Costa. His passion and expertise is delivering the highest standard of patient care to all of our patients. Matt brings with him over 20 years of patient care and customer service care from the ophthalmology space and you may see him wear several hats in our practice: Pretester, Optical Technician, and Front desk.

He will be able to explain your insurance benefits, and frame style and answer most questions with his extensive knowledge of the optical and optometry industry. Outside of our practice, Matt loves family time with his wife and daughter and is a die-hard fan of Miami Dolphins, FinsUp! Outside of football season, he’ll root for the Kings, Lakers, Dodgers, Futball club, just don’t get him started…you might forget to see the doctor!

​​​​​Sherri is your One-Stop-Shop frame stylist with over 40 years of licensed opticianry experience – this is where she brings fashion, function, and vision to our patients and they sure do love her! In fact, she is confident she will find the right frames to not just fit your prescription but the best style to highlight your eyes, complement your face shape and unique style. Have fun with your eyewear and let her highlight your best attributes, this is Sherri’s true passion. Her goal is to help you see your best and when you walk out the door with your new frames and your big smile, nothing is better than hearing our patients return with glowing compliments. We invite you to come on by for an experience you can only have firsthand! Once you find that perfect pair you’ll hear Sherri’s coined moniker "Claim that frame!”

​​​​​Magaly or “Maggie” has been an amazing member of our Elements Family. She also wears several hats - Optical Technician, Front Desk, and Insurance Expert. You can count on Magaly to answer any of your questions with thoughtful care and a friendly welcome. She prioritizes putting your needs first and ensures every patient has correct insurance coverage information prior to the appointment.

When not here with us, you can find Magaly enjoying her family time sipping on a Starbucks, and taking care of her sweet kids.
